Next week, I'll be heading to Rhode Island for one of the most special occasions of my life—my daughter's wedding.
The celebration will be held at the beautiful Shepherd's Run Winery Estate, where the vineyards, coastal charm, and timeless architecture create the perfect backdrop for a wedding with an elegant Italian flair. Needless to say, my heart is full, and my knitting bag is already packed!
Whenever I travel, I like to bring a project that's relaxing, portable, and enjoyable to knit. This trip calls for something that feels just as classic and effortless as a New England summer, so I've chosen the Porto Venere Tee by Minimi Knit Design.
The inspiration behind the pattern couldn't be more fitting. Porto Venere is named after the picturesque Italian seaside village and draws inspiration from the architecture of its historic church. The clean stripes, nautical feel, and graceful simplicity capture everything I love about summer knitting.
I'm planning to knit mine in Berroco Remix Light, using classic blue and white stripes. Remix Light is one of my favorite warm-weather yarns. Made from recycled fibers, it creates a lightweight fabric with beautiful drape and breathability—perfect for summer days along the coast.
The Porto Venere Tee is wonderfully approachable for knitters looking for an enjoyable garment project. It features:
- A flattering bateau neckline
- A relaxed, loose-fitting silhouette
- Top-down construction
- No short rows
- Your choice of a seamless or seamed version
It's the kind of pattern you can settle into after the first few rounds, making it an ideal companion for road trips, quiet mornings with coffee, or relaxing evenings after wedding festivities.
There's something special about taking a knitting project on a meaningful journey. Every few rows become connected to a memory—a conversation, a beautiful view, or a celebration with the people you love. I have a feeling every time I wear this tee, I'll be reminded of this wonderful week in Rhode Island and one very unforgettable wedding.
If you're looking for a timeless summer project to cast on, I hope you'll consider the Porto Venere Tee. Perhaps you'll knit along with me while I celebrate this exciting family milestone.
Happy knitting, and I'll be sure to share my progress (and maybe a few wedding photos) when I return!
