Knit Tuck & Purl
Why "Tuck"?
Knit Tuck & Purl is named after our shop mascot and chief quality-control officer: Tucker the dog. Tucker has had a lifelong (and completely unreciprocated) love affair with yarn. Skeins, balls, projects-in-progress — if it’s soft and stringy, he’s convinced it belongs to him.
“Tuck” comes from Tucker, “Knit” and “Purl” come from what we love most, and together they perfectly capture the spirit of the shop: a little cozy, a little playful, and very serious about yarn.
The Dream Was Tucked Away....
For over thirty years, we’ve held and nurtured a deep-seated love for knitting, inspired by memories of visiting Auntie Joanie’s amazing shop,What’s Needling You, which she owned in Fort Collins, Colorado. Opening a shop of our own has been a dream for many years, and we’re thrilled to now see our dream come true! We find joy in knitting—in learning, in finding new yarn that inspires us, in completing a project, and in building relationships with other knitters. Too, our journey has often been filled with laughter, most recently thanks to our playful dogs who can't resist the lure of yarn. Their favorite game? A spirited contest to see who can snatch the yarn first when no one’s looking. Tucker, the more agile of the two, often wins and is known for dashing around the house with my skein and work in progress, leaving a trail of colorful yarn in his wake! This spirit inspired the name of our shop: Knit Tuck & Purl.
