Tomorrow, Knit Tuck & Purl turns TWO!
And while two might sound little, from where I’m standing, it feels pretty spectacular.
When you open a yarn shop, you spend a lot of time thinking about what will go on the shelves. The yarns, the colors, the needles, the little things you hope people will be excited to discover.
You imagine opening the door and welcoming people in. The bell.
What you can’t quite picture is everything that happens next.
The person who walks in unsure they could ever knit a sweater—and eventually walks back in wearing it. The “quick stop for one thing” that becomes an afternoon of conversation. The familiar faces around the table, making room for someone new. The moment someone says, “Oh, I’ve made that mistake too,” and suddenly a frustrated knitter feels a whole lot better.
And all the knitters who have become the boss of their knitting and ventured beyond the basics—tackling something they once thought was too difficult, learning to fix a mistake, and discovering just how much they’re capable of. We’ve loved being part of every one of those “I did it!” moments.
Little by little, a shop becomes part of people’s lives. And the people become such a big part of ours.
Your generosity reaches beyond our shop, too. You’ve given your time, your skill, and a little piece of your heart to bring warmth to someone you may never meet.
There has been plenty to learn, more than a little figuring things out as we go, and the occasional tangled situation—some involving yarn. Through it all, you have kept showing up with your projects, your curiosity, your kindness, and your support.
