The Knit Lab

A guided sweater program built around one goal: a sweater that fits you beautifully.

One project. One great fit. Exactly what knitting a sweater should feel like.

The Knit Lab is where your next sweater gets made—the right way, from the start.

Before you cast on a single stitch, we do the planning together. We take your measurements, determine your gauge, choose the right size, and map out the adjustments your pattern may need.

Then we knit.

Over three months, you'll work on your sweater with guidance, troubleshooting, technique instruction, and a community of knitters working toward the same goal: a finished sweater you love to wear.

HOW KNIT LAB WORKS

1. Choose Your Sweater

Select a pattern from our current Knit Lab collection or choose a favorite from a previous season.

2. Choose Your Yarn

We'll help you find the right yarn for your sweater, your gauge, and the fabric you want to create. Your 20% Knit Lab yarn discount applies to your project purchase.

3. Swatch & Measure

This is where Knit Lab really begins.

You'll knit and block your swatch, and we'll use your actual gauge along with your body measurements to determine the best size and fit.

4. Build Your Sweater Roadmap

Together, we'll identify any adjustments your sweater needs and create notes to guide you through the project.

You'll know where you're going before you cast on.

5. Knit With Support

Come to your monthly sessions with your sweater, your questions, and your progress. We'll work through techniques, troubleshoot problems, and keep you moving forward.

6. Finish It

A sweater isn't finished when the knitting ends.

We'll cover the details that make the difference—blocking, seaming when needed, picking up stitches, finishing, and those final steps that turn your knitting into a sweater you're proud to wear.

THE FINISH LINE: WEAR IT & SHARE IT

Finishing deserves to be celebrated.

At the end of each Knit Lab season, members are invited to be photographed wearing their completed sweaters. Your portrait and project details will become part of our Knit Lab digital album, displayed in the shop.

Your name. Your yarn. Your sweater. You made it.

WHO IS KNIT LAB FOR?

Knit Lab is for knitters who are ready to move beyond simply following a sweater pattern and start understanding how to make that sweater work for their body.

It's especially wonderful for:

  • Knitters who've made sweaters but haven't been happy with the fit
  • Knitters who have wanted to make an adult sweater but haven't known where to begin
  • Confident knitters ready to tackle shaping and sweater construction
  • Anyone who has a half-finished sweater story and would really like the next one to have an ending
  • Knitters who simply enjoy learning and making alongside other knitters

THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER KNITTING CLASS

Knit Lab assumes that you already know the fundamentals of knitting. Our time together is spent on your sweater—planning it, knitting it, solving problems, learning new techniques, and getting it finished.

You should already be comfortable with:

  • Casting on and binding off
  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Reading a basic knitting pattern
  • Working flat and/or in the round, depending on your chosen project
  • Recognizing basic knitting mistakes

Not sure if you're ready? Ask us. We're happy to help you decide whether Knit Lab is the right next step for you.
