Knit A Birkin Sweater Knit Along

Knit A Birkin Sweater Knit Along

Join us for our April–May Knit-Along as we cast on Birkin by Caitlin Hunter!

Originally designed for Laine Magazine (Issue 2), Birkin is inspired by springtime in Scandinavia and the image of a young Jane Birkin wearing a crown of wildflowers. This inspiration comes to life in the sweater’s beautiful yoke—featuring a delicate leaf border surrounding a three-color floral motif, with optional bobbles for added texture.

The sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down in the round, with gentle A-line shaping created by changing needle sizes—making it as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear.

The KAL begins April 4th, but there’s no need to attend every week—feel free to jump in anytime during April or May as your schedule allows.

We’re thrilled that Julia Farwell-Clay will be available throughout the KAL to help you knit a successful sweater—whether you're new to garments or looking to refine your colorwork skills.

If you’re new to stranded colorwork (or just want a refresher), registered participants will receive a set of helpful tips from Julia, including:

  • How to practice with a small swatch before casting on
  • Techniques for maintaining smooth, elastic floats
  • Ways to keep your yarns organized for a tidy fabric
  • An introduction to color dominance to make your motif stand out

Stop by the shop for help choosing your yarn and colors—we’d love to help you put together the perfect palette for your Birkin!

As a special perk, KAL participants will receive 10% off yarn for their project.

Come knit along with us—we can’t wait to see your floral crowns come to life!

Happy knitting,
